TWENTY-EIGHT TO GRADUATE FROM FIRE ACADEMY
Twenty-eight firefighters from Mobile, Saraland and Atmore, of which twenty-six will work for Mobile Fire-Rescue, will graduate and receive their badges and fire helmets on Friday, May 30, 2008 after having completed approximately nineteen weeks of training at the department’s training academy. Mayor Sam Jones is scheduled to address the graduating class at the ceremony which begins at 11 a.m. at the Saenger Theatre located at 6 Joachim Street in downtown Mobile.
In addition to physical requirements and demands, each recruit spent over 640 hours, meeting the academic requirements necessary to become firefighters in the State of Alabama. These hours consisted of classroom studies as well as hands on training in 21 subject areas.
